Breakers Revenge

I've been really into old school Electro Funk lately. It's probably because I've been bumping the Rhino's Street Jams Series of Electro Funk classics from the early eighties. Artists like African Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force, Planet Patrol, Freestyle, Pretty Tony, Debbie Deb, Twilight 22, Trinere, etc. The list goes on and on, and it never seems to get old to me. Looking back at it, this was a specific genre that was short-lived. When the genre was dying out in the early 1990's and "Grunge" and "Gangster Rap" took over, these electro-funk artist spawned off into either a more Hip-Hop or Pop/Dance direction with little success, while many of them just faded out into a timeless music capsule for generations of dance lovers to rediscover years later. Either way, the songs that were produced and written still continue to influence dance music today, and I will continue to always be on the lookout for original copies of these lost 12" gems.
