Montana's Heavy Vibes

One of my favorite finds when I visited London a few months back was Vince Montana Jr.'s 3 x Vinyl LP Heavy Vibes. I found it in Soho at a place called Vinyl-Junkies, which was an amazing and very friendly record store I must note. You can check them out online at www.vinyl-junkies.com. Anyways, I was excited about picking up this much desired record for a couple of reasons. First off, I'm a huge fan of Vince Montana Jr. and the projects he's been involved with, including Salsoul Orchestra, Goody Goody, Montana Sextet, etc. Second, this out-of-print triple vinyl release includes some of Montana's finest moments as well as some of his most hard-to-find classics which brings me to the third reason. Included on this compliation is the very rare Goody Goody classic "I Wanna Know", which I've been trying to hunt down for quite sometime. This mid-tempo dancefloor gem has been one of my all-time favorite Montana cuts ever since I heard it a while back. The interesting thing about this track is that it was never included on any official Goody Goody release including the 1978 classic self-titled LP. I'm still trying to figure out if this was an unreleased studio song or if the track was released under a different artist name, which wouldn't be suprising given how many projects Vince Montana Jr. has been involved with over the years. Regardless, "I Wanna Know", in my opinion, is one of Montana's most underrated and hard-to-find gems, so finding that the track was included in the already amazing Heavy Vibes LP made the overall find that much sweeter.

Great track! Perfectly mixable with 'I love music' from the O'Jays and 'In love again' by the Joneses.

Actually this song was released under Sunny Gale (yet another Vince Montana project) and originally appeared on the Disco Express LP (RCA label) in 1976. It is definitely a hard to find record, but worth seeking out. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Magic Juan. I noticed this Sunny Gale track, I hadn't been able to listen to the track so I was unsure if it was the same actual song or not. Thanks for clearing it up! The Disco Express LP does seem like a great rare disco compilation!
