Just Can't Give You Up

I was happy to snatch up a pretty good find this weekend in picking up a used copy of New York's Mystic Merlin's 1980 funky disco classic "Just Can't Give You Up". I was excited to find the record in a bin for only two bucks at one of my neighborhood record stores. This track was probably the group's most notable during there late 1970's to early 1980's run. After first listen, I immediately realized that this track is primed for a future 'Pat Les Stache' re-edit. Stay tuned on that. After doing some research I also found that this group started off being sort of a novelty act, incorporating magic into their live shows. As time went on, it seems like the group got a bit more serious with their music as their popularity began to somewhat grow within the soul and disco scene. Regardless, it was a great find for a ridiculously cheap price, and in these harsh economic times, coming across deals like this can generally make a person's day.
