Oh No...Not The Beast Day

Let's end the week on a high note with one of my favorite tracks of all-time in "(Oh, No! Not) The Beast Day" by Marsha Hunt's 22. This Afro-funk gem was released as a seven-inch single back in 1973. The funky track never made it's way onto any of Marsha Hunt's albums, and it represents just one of two singles that were released under the "Marsha Hunt's 22" name. As time has gone on, the original seven-inch single has become a much sought after item among many record collectors. Even though the funky track is a bit of a departure from Hunt's other soul and disco material, "(Oh, No! Not) The Beast Day" is an Afro-funk gem well worth being included on any record collector's wishlist. Enjoy your weekend!

More Beast Disco

Speaking of 'Beasts' (previous post), here is a Beast-ly themed disco re-edit of Marsha Hunt 22(aka Marsha Hunt)'s 1973 funky classic "(Oh, No! Not) The Beast Day" by Lee Douglas. I heard that this edit is supposedly going to eventually make it's way onto an upcoming Editions Disco release. At this point we can only hope that is still the plan. If not, please someone reale it! With that being said, enjoy part two of my 'beast disco' infactuation.

On The Other Side of Midnight

A song that randomly came up on my ipod, that I've been enjoying today is Marsha Hunt's 1977 rare disco classic "The Other Side of Midnight". This hard-to-find gem became a favorite of legendary deejay Larry Levan during his day's at the Paradise Garage. The track has a solid, enjoyable mid-tempo funky groove that can work nicely on either the dancefloor as well as a 'mid day pick-me-up'. Regardless, I hadn't come across this track in a while, and it was much needed for my slow moving afternoon.
