Got To Have Your Love

United Kingdom producer/DJ, Floorman, recently sent me an instrumental re-edit of Fantastic Four's 1977 disco classic "I Got To Have Your Love" which I recently discussed in a blog post back in September. This Dennis Coffey produced classic is by far my favorite cut by the Fantastic Four. Floorman does a nice job in highlighting the funky driven bass groove as well as the solid horn leads to produce a great new instrumental edit of the original. This edit can most definitely work on the disco floor as well as a shake-up in a house set.

I would also recommend you to check out Floorman's blog Floorman Presents... when you get a chance. He has posted some other great edits that he has put together of artists like Hot Chip, George McCrae, Prince, as well as many others. Good stuff.

Got To Have Your Love

A song that I've found myself listening to a lot lately is Fantastic Four's disco gem "Got To Have Your Love". This 1977 single came out on the legendary Soul/Disco label Westbound Records, based in Detroit. The song was also mixed by the legendary producer Tom Moulton. This song showcases a nice blend between early Detroit soul and late 70's New York/ Philadelphia disco. If your a fan of "classic Salsoul" sounding disco, than this is definitely a track for you. Unfortunately right now, this 12-inch single is going for about $70-$100 online, so if you can get your hands on it for a decent price, I highly recommend it.

Essential Cabana Mix

A few weeks back, I was asked by Bobby from the Talking in Stereo blog to make an exclusive mix of many of the songs I play in my DJ sets, write about on this blog, and enjoy on a regular basis. I finally got around to putting together this mix. The mix is a collection of some really great rare disco that can be heard at Pony's italo/disco night Circus!(last Thursday of the month) and at the Solo Bar's Club Cabana(First Friday of the month). You can also hear my new single, "Club Cabana", which will be released as a 12-inch single on Beat Freeze Records later this fall, over at Talking in Stereo. So I would recommend clicking over there and checking it out! Hope you enjoy!

Comin' On Strong, It's Gettin' Hot

Last week I received another solid edit from Floorman aka Antony Miln, an upcoming UK producer whom I recently featured back in February for his re-edit of Fantastic Four's "I Got To Have Your Love". This time, Miln takes on Caroline Crawford's classic 1978 single "Coming On Strong", which he appropriately renames "Comin' On Slow". This dubbed out extended edit does a nice job of building up to the song's funky vocal climax, constantly giving you a bit more as the song moves along. Nice work again from the Floorman himself, keep those edits coming!
