Introducing Wade Nichols

Mindless Boogie is a label out of Belgium run by Dirk from Eskimo Recordings and Tonic from the Subs/Starski & Tonic. This record label puts out 12" re-edits of songs that lean more toward the psychedelic side. These edits are composed by various producers including Music For Dreams producer Peter Visti, Lexx, and Tonic himself, with more (I'm sure) lined-up for the future. My favorite release off of this label came from a producer under the name Wade Nichols, which is just a new aliase for re-edit master Todd Terje. As soon as I made the connection, I knew that these re-edits were going to be great. The A-side of the record, Mindless Boogie 004, has Nichols putting his touch on The Turtles' "Happy Together", which was re-titled "So Happy". I have to say that I always kind of liked the original, however I always felt like maybe something was missing. That missing piece for me was finally delivered with this new edit, giving the song more presence, while shuffling the orginal structure. The B-side has Nichols tackling Thin Lizzy's "Fox on the Run" and KC & The Sunshine Band's "Boogie", both solid re-edits tha nicely round out the 12-inch. If your a fan of Todd Terje or Tangoterje edits, this record is a nice addition to your collection.
