In 1979, the legendary
De-Lite Records released
Dazzle's debut selt-titled LP. This record saw the colaboration of many influential disco artists, including
Leroy Burgess,
Patrick Adams, and
Stan Lucas, whom came together a year prior to produce the ground-breaking record,
Patrick Adams Presents Phreek. Here, on the
Dazzle LP, you get the same kind of soulful disco-boogie feel as many other Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess produced releases, even though this record was written mostly by Lucas.
John "Jellybean" Benitez helped contribute extended disco mixes to the records two singles
Walk Before You Run and
You Dazzle Me!!!. I find that my personal favorite here, lies with the more soulful album cut of "
Walk Before You Run" which features Lucas on lead vocals. The
Dazzle LP is a solid feel-good disco record that features some of disco and dance music's greatest pioneers.
