Dancing with a Ghost Lover

Addrisi Brothers' 1979 disco classic "Ghost Dancer" might be one of the strangest themed songs I've ever heard. Basically this song is about a man who supposedly comes to the disco everynight and dances as if he had his passed-away lover in his arms. The song's vocals also suggest that you can see the ghost of the woman through the cigarette and strobe light haze. You got to love the creative effort here. The two brothers, Dick and Don, didn't settle for the usual song topics on this one. The song might be about a fictional story, however it's safe to say that if their were any ghosts on the dancefloor they would have been gettin' down to this funky disco gem. The track has an overall Bee Gees feel to it that can easily shake the dancefloor. Quality track with a very strange, however entertaining and creative theme. Very nice!

NOTE: The above image isn't the Ghost Dancer LP, as I couldn't find one online. However this is one of my favorite images of the group, as "over-the-top" as it is, from their 1977 self-titled LP.

Wow! These guys are pretty bizarre, from Wikipedia:

"Both Don and Dick played parts in their family's acrobatic group, The Flying Addrisis. In the 1950s, they got in touch with Lenny Bruce about starting a singing career, and moved to California. They auditioned for parts on the Mickey Mouse Club but were rejected"

This is a nice one! Thanks!

Oh, and they also wrote "Never My Love", for the Association.....

That was a pretty hot track. I also like the image you chose. it's pretty "ghostly" especially with their white shirts glowing like that. That's pretty cool.

Those guys look a little creepy, especially the one on the left (Don, or, eh, Dick...??) But the track is amazingly good! The vocals sound like the Bee Gees, that's tright, but the track could also have been taken from the Dennis Parker album 'Like an eagle', which is one of my all time favourite albums. Nice one to close the week with, Pat, thanks!
