We Are The Africans

Today, I'm excited to share another re-edit track from the upcoming Cabana Disco Vol.4 release. Here we have the record's A-side cut, a re-working of Buari's 1975 African disco classic "Advice from Father". On this edit, I tried to ride the heavy Afro groove along with the chanting chorus's of the original, as well as continue with my ongoing experiments with subtle topical and animal sound effects. Overall, I think the edit, which was renamed "We Are The Africans", makes for a nice introduction into the rest of the twelve-inch release, which will feature two other edits including Chocolat's "African Choco" (Listen/Download here) and Black Soul's "Dakar Sound". The record should be out in stores worlwide starting at the end of April. As always, I would love to hear everyones feedback. Enjoy!

Advice From Africa

It's Friday and I'm ready to start the weekend, therefore I'm going to keep this short and sweet with another classic funky disco cut from Buari, titled "Advice From Father". This African-flavored disco gem was originally released on Buari's hard-to-find 1975 self-titled album, which also features the amazing track "Karam Bani". Overall, it's just another solid cut from one of the greatest African disco artists. Enjoy your weekend!

Pleasure of the Ghana Disco Beat

I've shared a few tracks from Ghana native Sidiku Buari, aka Buari a few times before on this blog, mostly highlighting his music from his 1977 album Disco Soccer. However before that, Buari released a self-titled album two years earlier in 1975. Much like Disco Soccer, the record successfully blended together heavy African rhythms with funky disco grooves. The difference between the two records is probably the balance between the two music genres. On the 1977 Disco Soccer album, when disco was at it's height, the record was a bit more on the dancefloor/ disco side, while Buari's 1975 debut album touched upon more of a tradional African feel. That being said, both records are absolute gems and worthing of any disco party or dancefloor. To prove this, here is the song "Karam Bani" off Buari's self-titled record.
