Cool Chris Live "Grow Up" DJ Set

At the last Grow Up party, back on March 3rd, one of our two special guests that month was Groove Merchant record shop owner Chris Veltri, aka Cool Chris. He spun a great set full of rare tracks from his very deep record collection. We were fortunate enough to record his set that night, and we have finally gotten around to posting it for everyone to hear. Unfortunately we don't have a tracklist for his set, however I think it's safe to say that the set was full of hard-to-find gems that a you don't come across everyday. Anyways, we hope that everyone enjoys the set as much as we did that night.

Tropical Discotheque Mix

I've been busy lately putting together my "Best of 2010" blog post, which will appear at the end of the month. As we start to wind down this year and look ahead to 2011, we already have some superb upcoming new releases to be excited about. One of those releases, as I've mentioned before on this site (SEE Sofrito: Tropical Discotheque), is Sofrito's upcoming compilation titled Tropical Discotheque off of Strut Records. This album doesn't make it's way onto record shelves until January 25th, however DJ Hugo Mendez of Sofrito fame has cooked up a great new mix featuring tracks from their upcoming compilation. Think of it as a little "tropical sunshine" to help de-frost the current cold winter days. Enjoy!

---------------------------

And if that isn't enough, here is Frankie Francis and Simbad's superb edit of Victor Uwaifo's funky tropical gem "Ohue", which is featured on the compilation.

Late Night Nite-Flyte

I usually don't embed music from other blogs (Thanks AOR Disco, Go Visit their site!), however this mix is just too good not to share. Here is a new mix by DJ Supermarkt/Mellow Mafia titled NITE-FLYTE: Funky 1978 L.A. Softrock For Your Next Nite-Drive. As the title suggests, the mix is a collection of forgotten softrock gems that border a bit on laid back disco and funky yachtrock. This might just be the feel-good mix of the century! Enjoy!

You can purchase this mix over at Rough Trade. GO BUY IT!
Find the full playlist over at the AOR Disco Blog.

Proxy's "Pat Les Stache Re-Edit" Mix

Detroit deejay Proxy has made a incredible 80 minute mix of Pat Les Stache edits. The mix consists of re-edits found on all the Cabana Disco records, as well as some of the unreleased edits like Tony Rallo & the Midnite Band's "Burnin' Alive" and Arthur Russell's "Make 1, 2". I recommend everyone checking out the mix, as well as all of Proxy's mixes by visiting his Virb page.

One Way Trip to Disco Heaven, Hallelujah!

Here is a guest mix, entitled One Way Trip to Disco Heaven, Hallelujah!, from one of AmericanAthlete Blog's most loyal readers Professor Eddy. Much like H.M.A.'s guest mix I posted a week ago, Professor Eddy nicely blends together old and "nu" school disco cuts with a touch of some lesser known funky gems from the last ten years. Enjoy the mix!

Next Disco: Club Nouveau 2

Here is a great new mix that I thought readers of this blog might enjoy from my good friend and former Studio! resident deejay, H.M.A. (aka Cybertramp). Like he states, this mix tends to Take us somewhat backwards and forwards through time, highlighting some of the newer "Nouveau" disco cuts and older rarities. I know he would love to hear some feedback. Enjoy!
